Microsoft Starts Testing Your Phone Windows 10 App That Mirrors Phone Content To A PC

Microsoft is starting to test its new Your Phone application for Windows 10. The software maker first introduced the application at the company's Build developer conference in May, and is designed to duplicate the contents of a phone to a PC. Android phone users will be able to test their phone first, with the ability to drag and drop recent photos directly into Office applications and other Windows applications directly from a phone. Microsoft also plans to add support for synchronization of text messages and notifications from phones to duplicate to a PC.

The Your Phone application requires that an Android application be installed to duplicate the contents of the phone to a PC, and Microsoft also plans to extend this same function to iPhone users. Microsoft said that photos and notifications will be reflected from iPhones to PC with Windows 10 in Build, but the company is only testing with Android at this time. The latest Microsoft blog posts only mention the features of PC, and not the message, photo and synchronization of notifications.

The Your Phone app is being tested as part of Microsoft's upcoming Windows 10 update, codenamed Redstone 5. This update should be available in October, but it's not clear if your phone will be sent directly in this update or it will be available as a separate application once the test is complete.
